The Journey Home, near Kansas City, MO, is a majestic 1800's colonial farm home located on 6 picturesque acres and surrounded by farm land. The property features the home, historic barn, and spacious lawn. We are unlike other venues in that we offer overnight stays for up to 23 guests in our beautiful 5,000 square foot home. 

This one of a kind venue allows you to have the feel of a destination wedding but still allows for all of your friends and family to be there to celebrate the big day! This is great for out of town guests and/or your entire bridal party to all be in one place without ever having to leave the property!

The Barn


Across the lawn is a rustic 4,000 square foot tobacco barn. It's perfect for your wedding reception. The barn can accommodate 225 guests.

For many years, Theresa dreamt about creating a safe, relaxing place that facilitates our life journey in finding ourself. This includes making wonderful memories, even the beginning of life together at the commencement of marriage. Theresa strives to make The Journey Home a welcoming place for all to enjoy on their wedding day.

General Manager - Rachel Nixdorf


Rachel is dedicated to making your wedding as memorable as possible. Her top priorities are assisting couples in hosting their event and helping create a fun and stress free day. From working with the bride and groom on their ceremony and reception layout and setup, to coordinating venue needs, Rachel and our staff will make sure that your experience is personalized and accommodating.
